International Students from non-US countries are advised to apply for the American University Scholarships in the United States for the 2027-28 session. The AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship (AU EGLS) will be awarded to the most brilliant students. This is a Fully Funded Scholarship program which covers full tuition fees, along with a monthly stipend for meal and accommodation charges. The AU EGL scholarship will cover all study-related expenses, including full tuition, room, and board. There are two scholarships available for international students who desire a non-immigrant visa of status F-1 or J-1 to study abroad in the United States. The non-billable expenses, including airline tickets, books, taxes, health insurance and miscellaneous expenses, will not be provided under this scholarship. These charges will be paid by the students out of pocket. The AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship is renewable for a total of four years for undergraduate degrees if the academic performance of the awardees is satisfactory.
American University, Washington, D.C., also offers eight partially funded scholarships for overseas students. An amount of US$4,000 will be provided to the applicants selected for AU EGL partial scholarships. Eligibility Requirements For American University Scholarships:
To be successful for the 2027-28 American University Scholarships in the USA, interested aspirants must fulfil the following terms and conditions:
- International students from all over the world, except for USA citizens, are eligible to apply.
- Applicants showing a keen interest in leadership, volunteerism, community service, and advancing the needs of people in their home country will be given preference.
- A minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 4.0 will be preferred.
- Applicants must be proficient in the English language:
- 95+ TOEFL iBT
- Sub-scores of 24+ on the paper-based TOEFL (Taken after May 31, 2017)
- 7.0+ IELTS (all subscores must be 6.0 or above)
- 33 minimum SAT Reading subscore
- A score of 630 or higher on the SAT Digital version section entitled “Evidence-Based Reading and Writing” (EBRW)
- 29 minimum ACT English
- 65 minimum PTE
- 125+ Duolingo (all subscores must be 115 or above)
- Cambridge Assessment English score of 185 or higher. Each sub-score must be 169 or higher.
- Students who are enrolled in secondary/high school and graduating by June 2027.

Application Procedure For American University Scholarships:
There is an online application process for American University Scholarships 2027-28 in the USA. The steps mentioned below must be followed by the applicants during the application process.
- Complete the application form with the correct information as desired.
- Submit the Common Application along with all required documents.

- Failure to meet this scholarship requirement may affect admission to American University, Washington, DC and eligibility for partial merit scholarships.
