Scholarship Overview:
International Students are advised to apply for the Cambridge University Gates Scholarships in the United Kingdom for the 2024-25 session. Students from all countries as well as the UK can apply for Fully Funded Scholarships to pursue Master’s Degree Programs and PhD Degrees. Students will not be billed a processing fee. Award Benefits:
Cambridge University Gates Scholarship in the UK is a Full Free scholarship for International Students that will cover the entire fees of attending Cambridge University. It also offers extra, ad hoc funding. It pays for the following expenses:
- Composition at the University Charged at the appropriate rate
- A Single Student Maintenance Allowance (£18,744 for 12 months at the 2024-25 rate; pro rata for courses less than 12 months) — for PhD scholars, the grant is for up to 4 years.
- One Economy Round-Trip Airfare Ticket at the start and conclusion of the Course.
- Inbound Visa Fees and the Immigration Health Surcharge
- Funding for Academic Development: Attendance at conferences and seminars may cost anywhere between £500 and £2,000, depending on the duration of your course.
- Family Allowance: Up to £10,944 for a first baby child and £15,612 for a second child (2024-25 rate). A companion receives no funding.
- Fieldwork: You may request to maintain your usual maintenance allowance while doing a PhD.
- Funding for Maternity/Paternity Leave: If you need it, you can request to pause your studies for up to 6 months while still receiving your maintenance stipend.
- Hardship funding is available for unanticipated problems.
Duration of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship:
- 3 years, 4 years, 5 years, and 7 years for a PhD.
- Master’s Degree: One Year, Two Years

Eligibility Requirements:
You are eligible to apply for a Bill and Melinda Gates Scholarship for International Students if you are:
- The candidate should be a national of any country other than the United Kingdom.
- Applying to the University of Cambridge to undertake one of the following full-time residential degrees of study: PhD/MSc/MLitt or Postgraduate Program (Master)
- Academic Achievement: Candidates must demonstrate academic proficiency (through their transcripts, references, and experience)
