Penn GSE Merit-Based Scholarships:
Full-time master’s students can receive some tuition assistance during their first year of study who qualify for the Penn GSE merit scholarships. The School awards scholarships to about 75% of new master’s students because it wants to help as many qualified applicants as possible. Applications given to both domestic and international students will not be considered for these Penn GSE scholarships.
After the assessment of the applications, prizes will be given, and they are based on academic merit. Awards are mentioned in the acceptance letter at the time of entry. Scholarships have no service requirements and are not taxed. The only semesters in which scholarships are awarded equitably are the fall and spring.

Need-Based Assistance:
Students in the US and legal residents of other countries must submit a survey as part of their admissions application. citizens and can apply for a need-based scholarship at Penn GSE. Students must be applying for full-time study in an approved master’s program to be eligible for this grant (Executive-Style Programs are not eligible for need-based aid except for the School and Mental Health Counselling program).
Need-based scholarships are evaluated separately from merit-based scholarships and can be paired with other prizes up to the cost of tuition. A portion of the cost of tuition fees under Need-based scholarships will be covered. Applicants will be evaluated for need-based scholarships. The qualifying students will be notified at the time of acceptance in their decision letter.

Graduate Assistantships
Graduate assistants (GAs) are those students who work at Penn GSE and provide services that are academically relevant, such as supervised participation in faculty classroom support, research projects, admissions recruiting, outreach initiatives, student affairs, and other services. Hourly employment will be made available to GAs.
International as well as local students can apply for these awards. Students who have been selected for a program offered by GAs will find an invitation to apply in their admission letter. Participating programs control the selection process of admission and scholarship choices independently.

Dean’s Scholarship:
A small group of new master’s applicants at Penn GSE are eligible for the Dean’s Scholarship, which is worth $10,000. Awards will be given on a merit basis after the faculty has reviewed the admissions application. Domestic as well as overseas students may apply for the University of Pennsylvania Scholarships. Applications must be submitted before the deadline to be successful in a scholarship program. Other Penn GSE aid opportunities may be paired with the Dean’s Scholarships. The Dean’s Scholarships will be decided at the time of admission.
Scholarships for Fulbright Fellows:
All accepted master’s students at Penn GSE will receive an amount of $25,000 who have opted to spend their Fulbright Fellowship toward their graduate degrees. The University of Pennsylvania Scholarships may be used in conjunction with grants received from Fulbright-affiliated institutions. Fulbright grantees need to identify themselves in the graduation application.

A master’s student from Malawi receives a full scholarship each year from Penn GSE JBJ Foundation.
