The Slovakia scholarships for international students promote international students, PhD students, university professors, researchers, and artists’ study/research/teaching/artistic mobility at higher education institutions and research organisations. Sending Slovak scholarship recipients abroad and bringing international scholarship recipients to Slovakia, it promotes two-way mobility. Slovakia Government Scholarships Financial Coverage:
The Slovak Government Scholarships 2026-27 Program will cover educational and living expenses, as well as accommodation at universities and research organisations in Slovakia for research/artistic, or teaching purposes. A $1,500 monthly payout is also included.
- Living costs (food, accommodation, etc).
- Tuition Fees.
- A student at a second-level university will pay € 620.
- 1025.50 € for PhD students.
- University teacher/researcher/artist:
- 1025.50 € without a PhD degree (or its equivalent) and at the same time less than 4 years of work experience as a university teacher/researcher/artist.
- 1370 € with a PhD degree (or its equivalent) and at the same time less than 10 years of work experience as a university teacher/researcher/artist.
- 1470 € with a PhD degree (or its equivalent) and at the same time more than 10 years of work experience as a university teacher/researcher/artist.

Program Duration:
As stated above, the Slovakia Government Scholarships Program for 2026-27Â of the Republic of Slovakia is a short-term financial exchange program for students to pursue their studies in Slovakian higher educational institutions. All of the above categories’ durations are listed below.
- Scholarship stay (students): 1 – 2 semesters or full 1 – 3 trimesters (i.e. 3 – 4 or 6 – 7 or 9 – 10 months) if the academic year is divided into trimesters.
- A scholarship stay (for PhD students) ranges from one to ten months.
- The duration of a scholarship stay (for university lecturers, researchers, or artists) ranges from one to ten months.

Eligibility Requirements For Slovakia Government Scholarships:
All those aspirants who wish to participate in the Slovakia Government Scholarships for 2026-27Â must have the following qualifying requirements;

- Students can apply for the National Scholarship Program 2026-27Â in one of three categories, which are as follows:

A) Students who are:
Students in universities outside of Slovakia; Students at the second level of higher education (master’s students), or students who have already completed at least 2.5 years of university studies.
B)Â PhD students:
who received their higher education or scientific training outside of Slovakia and have been accepted for an academic mobility1 to study/conduct research/artistic stay in Slovakia by the public, private, or a public university or a research institution that is eligible to conduct a PhD study program2 is required (e.g. the Slovak Academy of Sciences).

Those who have accepted an invitation from a non-profit organisation to spend time teaching, conducting research, or performing arts in Slovakia and who have a current certificate proving their ability to do so.

The Closing date to apply online for the Slovakia Government Scholarships for International Students for 2026-27Â is 30th April 2026 for scholarship stays during the next academic year and 31st October 2027 for scholarship stays during the summer semester of the current academic year.
