Scholarship Overview:
Applications are invited from International Students to apply for the Rotary Yoneyama Scholarships in Japan 2026-27. Students from all Countries around the globe can apply for Fully Funded Scholarships to pursue Undergraduate Degree Programs, Master’s Degree Programs, and PhD Degrees. No Application Fee will be charged. The fellowship supports exceptional foreign students who are studying or conducting research at Japanese higher education institutions and who will later take an active part in both their home countries and the global community. Each year, the Japanese government awards several bursaries to foreign students. One of these awards is the Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship. Only international students may apply for this award. It is a partially funded scholarship that pays for the majority of the costs associated with studying in Japan. If your final year of school was in English, IELTS is not necessary for this scholarship. Only students whose prior educational courses were not in English must take an English language test. Throughout their stay in Japan, Yoneyama Scholars get a firsthand understanding of Japanese culture and customs, enabling them to forge connections between Japan and their home nations. By interacting with Rotary club members, it is hoped that the Scholars will grow a strong sense of social participation. They will be expected, as will all Rotarians, to contribute on their own to fostering and maintaining world peace and harmony in the future. Scholarship Coverage:
The list of expenses paid by chosen students was supplied by the Irish government while they were studying. The advantages for international students are as follows:
- Actual travel costs up to a maximum of 500,000 JPY are reimbursed at orientation after arrival in Japan. Successful candidates shall submit all required receipts. The only price that is paid is the cost of the economy class.
- Accepted candidates must travel to Japan prior to the designated month for admission. Your eligibility will be lost if you don’t get to Japan before the month the scholarship starts.
- For April enrollment, the Bursary payment begins in April 2026
- For fall enrollment: Bursary payment begins in October (or September) 2026
- Undergraduates 100,000 yen per month
- Master’s students 140,000 yen per month
- Doctoral students 140,000 yen per month
*Research students are not eligible.

- All International Students can apply for this bursary.
- 12 years of schooling or a higher secondary education/qualifications for Bachelor’s Programs.
- For Master’s Degree Programs, an Undergraduate degree is mandatory.
- For PhD degree Programs, candidates Should Complete a master’s degree.
- The age limit for a Master’s is not more than 35, and for a PhD, not more than 40 years at the time of the application process.
- Good Academic Record.
- Experienced in Research for Master’s and PhD degrees.

The Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship for Overseas Candidates to study in Japan in 2026-27 is open to all academic disciplines. A bachelor’s degree takes four to five years to complete, while a graduate degree takes two to three years.
